Crex Meadows Winter Photography

Crex Meadows in January is a challenging area to photograph.  The terrain is mostly flat.  All the vegetation of the marshes and prairie is snow-covered.  The lakes and ponds are frozen.  Wildlife is not in evidence.  It's cold and windy.  No color except browns and tans.

In such challenging surroundings,  good light and interesting skies can be the only things that lead to good photographs.  All the photos in this post were shot on a day when the sky and light were interesting.  I also visited Crex a week later when the sky was completely overcast and got no good photos.
